Are you satisfied with the leadership that this City Council has provided?

I’m not, and this is why I am a candidate for District One City Councilor. I bring a record of leadership and service to the Worcester community. I was raised in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Vocational School in 1970 and from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute in 1972. At WITI, I was the student representative to the board of trustees. After active duty in the United States Air Force 212th Squadron , I was appointed to the Worcester Fire Department. I was a Worcester firefighter for over 31 years, earning a degree from Quinsigamond Community College, and retiring with the rank of lieutenant. My wife Josephine and I and our daughter Trinity reside in the Greendale section of Worcester.

Thanks for visiting the VoteJoeCasello.com website. We look forward to working with you and working for you as your District One City Councilor.

These are important times for our city. Barely a day goes by without headlines about budget cuts and economic gloom and doom. Our dependence on state aid must be addressed, and it’s time to bring city finances under control. Our quality of life is affected, and it is time to address these important issues.

  • City streets and sidewalks remain in disrepair. Dangerous debris from December’s ice storm remained on streets and sidewalks for six months. Yet 1.5 million of our tax dollars are spent to build a skating rink on the common.
  • Public safety is compromised, and core services are diminished, yet city councilors enjoy cost of living salary increases every year.
  • The City Council votes to raise our water/ sewer bills by $42.00 per year yet takes $300,000 out of the sewer levy monies to construct a playground.
  • City Clerk’s office budget cuts three employees, yet the City Council doles out a $7,000 pay raise to one of the two assistant city clerks.
